About	Frances Kealoha “Kay” Bishop went home to the Lord on January 6, 2019. She was born on April 16, 1938 in Woodland, California to Frances Elizabeth Humphreys and Alfred Ernest Fentzling. Kay grew up in Davis, California and graduated from Davis High School in 1955. She got married and moved to the Yakima Valley in 1967 where she was very active in the community. She worked in the Yakima School District from the late 80’s to the early 2000’s, and most people remember her as the attendance secretary at Eisenhower High School throughout the 1990’s. She loved her students and was like a second mother to many of them, even feeding and housing them if necessary. She ended her career as the office manager at Hoover Elementary where she met many great friends. Kay loved people. She had more friends than one could imagine and somehow, she not only managed to keep in touch with each and every one of them, but she made time for everybody. She was the type of person who would drop whatever she was doing to help out, even if it meant just sitting with you in your time of need or driving you over the pass to catch a flight. She would literally give you the shirt off her back if she thought it was necessary, and it was her giving and loving nature that provided her with a bounty of lifelong friendships, some as long as 50+ years. As one of her friends said, “She was a special lady who was very giving and cared about us all.” Many of these friends Kay had a special connection with through cards. She was a member of many different bridge groups and other card game groups. It was once said that if someone was new to town she would invite them to play cards, if they didn’t play bridge, she would find something for everyone to play. Kay was a devout Christian and a member of the Wiley Heights Covenant Church family. It was there she was baptized, her son was baptized, and her granddaughter was baptized. She cared very deeply for her church family and did her best to make sure not to miss a service when possible. Kay was predeceased by her father and mother, and is survived by her sister, Sandra Cordoza of Woodland, CA, her children, Jean and Nisi Maxwell of Comfort, TX, Karen and DR Albright of Woodinville, WA, Audra and Mark Grosz of Edmonds, WA, and Joe and Carrie Bishop of Yakima, WA. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Ally Albright, Ethan Albright, Maddie Bishop, and soon to be born, Ellie Bishop. The family would like to extend a huge thank you for the massive support we’ve received during these hard times. We are planning to have a celebration of her life / birthday party on April 13, 2019 at the Yakima Covenant Church. Details will follow in an obituary which will be ran closer to that time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wiley Heights, Yakima, or Selah Covenant Church in Kay’s name, and sent in care of Brookside Funeral Home (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936).
