Seeking history about student's testimony re the Edmonds Marsh

Hello,

I am trying to find information (I think from 1974) about Edmonds High School students in Mr. John Cooke's class who commented on a proposal by Unocal(?) to fill in the Edmonds Marsh for development. From what I understand, the testimony of the students convinced the planning commission/permitting agency at that time to deny the developer's request to fill in the marsh.

I am beginning work on a simple, short film about the marsh and its history, and am coordinating with some area educators and residents who love the marsh and are working on restoration efforts. They are also in contact with Mr. Cooke.

What that past group of students did saved this marsh, one of the very few remaining marshes on the west coast. It serves as critical habitat for migrating birds and a place where students, residents, and visitors can come to learn about and enjoy nature.

Any information or leads you can provide would be very helpful.
