| About Me | 25 random things: To have been such a shy, backward girl with nothing to say, I sure can talk a lot now. 1. The best thing that ever happened to me is that God showed me I could trust in Him to have Jesus as the captain of this little ship of mine, knowing that there'd be frightening, stormy, days as well as beautiful, peaceful ones during the journey to 'home'. My first church convention was at Downing's and my maiden name is Downing. I also found out than Downing's was built the same year I was born. Those were fun things to know and strengthen my feeling that 'This is the life for me!' Everything since then has been so wonderful... marriage to a loving husband, birth to three loving children, and now having two granddaughters! 2. One of the worse things that ever happened to me was my father(American) dying suddenly with a heart attack. I was 5 hours away, my husband was on a business trip and I couldn't get a hold of him; it was a horrible feeling. 3. Another horrible thing was to see my mother(Japanese) die slowly. 4. And another thing was when I fell through the garage ceiling and the complications that followed! It was the first time I have broken a bone (a little one in my foot) and the first time I got a major kidney infection that sent me to the ER (about a week later). 5. The biggest fear I have is that something would happen to my family. I love them so very,very much!! 6. I majored in art and almost minored in music at VA Tech. I actually started out in marine biology but got a 'D' in gen. biology that freaked me out and I switched to art. But that's where I met Terry; in art class. He had switched to' art' after not doing so well in 'business'. I still enjoy painting, especially murals... but I'm sooo sloooow to finish anything. 7. I love '7's! 7 rhymes with Heaven and it's a lucky number. I have fun finding '7's in my life.... like, my birthday is on the 21st which is 3x7. My harp looks like a '7'. Terry and I were married on the 14th. 8. I love music... hearing it and playing it. It's usually in my head; I'd play music all the time but try to respect the fact that not everybody wants to hear it. My dad loved classical and he would play it LOUD, and I would go to sleep with it! I never thought I'd like 'country' but I do now. Not too fond of jazz. Love drums. And I love to sing. Not too fond of opera... it's unnatural singing. Never thought I'd like hymns, but the words are so meaningful to me now. I wish I could remember words; I'm rotten at it. But I can remember tunes, a whole orchestra plays in my head. 9. My first instrument was an accordion. I was 6 or 7 when a guy came to the door selling accordion lessons. It is a funny instrument and goofy to play. And I can only listen to it for a few minutes! 10. I use to be in a rock band in high school called Epic Ember. Still don't know what that means. 11.
