Former NHL player

What is Kevin Miller known for?

Kevin Bradley Miller, born September 2, 1965, in Lansing, Michigan, is a former professional ice hockey player who enjoyed a lengthy career in the National Hockey League (NHL). For those who don't know, he is an alumni of Eastern High School, Lansing MI. His career began when he was drafted by the New York Rangers in the 2024 NHL Draft. His talent and tenacity saw him playing for several other teams, including the Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals, St. Louis Blues, San Jose Sharks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, and Ottawa Senators.

He retired from professional play in 2005, but not before contributing a significant amount to the sport. As a player, his career statistics show impressive contributions to ice hockey, with 28 goals and 57 assists during his 1983-84 season with the Redford Royals, along with his 11 goals and 29 assists during the 1984-85 season with Michigan State University.

Off the ice, Kevin Miller was part of a notable hockey family, with his brothers Kelly and Kip Miller also playing in the NHL. His connections to the sport don't end there. He is the cousin of former NHL goaltender Ryan Miller and Ryan's brother Drew Miller, who also played in the NHL. His daughter Hannah Miller also chose a career on the ice, but as a figure skater.

In 2014, Miller faced a legal issue when U.S. District Judge Gordon Jay Quist ordered him to pay a $1.6 million judgment due to a damaging hit from behind during a Swiss league game in 2000 against Andrew McKim. Despite some controversy, Kevin Miller's contributions to ice hockey and the diverse athletic achievements of his family remain a significant part of his legacy.
