About Me | Born in Greenfield, IN... raised on the northeast side of Charlottesville, IN by George & Cheryn Williams , with older sisters Tracey & Cathy. Lived the normal midwestern life growing up... went to Eastern Hancock schools, played football, basketball, & baseball with a little track thrown in. Intentions were to go to school & play college football in Illinois. Jaw surgery sidetracked those plans. Then ended up attending Vincennes University, for a short period of time, with hopes of becoming a school teacher & coach. Once I actually started working it took over any plans of getting back into school. At Pleasant Run Treatment Center, I worked as a Youth Guidance Specialist, working with children with behavior problems or coming from homes that didn't know how to handle the child. I also coached football at Eastern Hancock, for two years, during this time. Loved coaching & seeing the boys learn & develop. After leaving there, I attended barbering school, worked at UPS, & CAT... all at the same time. Left me with only a few hours to sleep & not much of a life. Fell for a $$$ ad in the paper & gave auto sales a shot. That wasn't fulfilling, so I picked up & moved to Reading, PA. That's where I started working retail. Worked for Champs Sports from 2000-late 2002, as a manager, lived in Reading, Indy, & Alton, IL during that time. Left there to take the manager position with Hibbett Sports, right here in Greenfield. Opened that store in Jan. of 2003, left in June 2006. Left retail to focus more on family. Had been married in '05, then had our first child, Skylar, in '06. I worked for my father-in-law, in construction. In Dec. of '06, we moved into a house... within a few weeks, life would completely change. Jan. 14th, 2007... we had just had family & friends over, the night before, to watch the Colts beat the Ravens in the playoffs. That Sunday was the first game for our church basketball league, which I'd played in since '96. During the game, I went into a trance, uncharacteristically committed a foul, then walked off of the court like a zombie. I sat down, then collapsed... I was having sudden cardiac arrest. My friend, Chris Weber started CPR... Kenny Whisman, someone I'd known for a long time, who's a nurse, jumped in as well. I was dead.... but those guys, by the grace of God, kept me alive. Even though I was gone & it took three shocks from the defib paddles to get my body going, those guys are the reason I can be myself today, that I can function properly & even tell this story. After entering the hospital, I was in a coma for almost five days. Things weren't looking good, the medical staff had told my family to prepare for the worst... meaning death... if I DID live, I'd more than likely be a "vegetable", wheelchair-bound for the remainder of my life. I came out of the coma, alive & well. I had some procedures to correct my heart defect, which went on for a couple of years... but are now corrected! After a couple of days of cobwebs & trying to figure it all out, I was able to witness our Colts beat the Patriots, in the AFC Championship, & advance to the Super Bowl. After a two week stay in the hospital, I was released with no further rehabilitation... could've used some though. I was out of work for almost six months, trying to get used to being an "old, decrepid man". With an infant, a new house, a new found medical condition, & no job.... life became a whole lot more hectic. The bills came in, the stress went up. July of '07, started working for Steve & Barry's, then soon found out that we were expecting our second child. Karsynn, was born in '08, our second little blondie girl. I worked with Steve & Barry's until they went out of business, due to bankruptcy, in Jan. of '09. I was able to start working for Dollar General right after that, was with DG until May 2010. Would never bad mouth a company, but the time & efforts I put into that company was NOT worth it. It totally affected my life, & brought on a lot of heartache & pain that wasn't necessary. May God & MANY others forgive me. In July 2010, little Miss Presleigh was born... our third little blondie! I worked as a site supervisor doing security/traffic for Washington Township schools through the end of '10. Then, started working for Dick's Sporting Goods at the new year, presently working at the Greenwood location. I presently live in Greenfield, as we sold the house in Wilkinson back in October. Recently divorced, but hopefully God will strengthen us to be a good team, as parents, & teach us/me to be better Christians for what we have experienced. It's time to focus on the present, The Big Picture... move on from the pas...(read more) |
