What is Stephanie Samedy known for?

Stephanie Samedy, a notable alumna of East Ridge High School in Clermont, Florida, is a well-known professional volleyball player, born on September 27, 1998. She stands tall at 188 cm and distinguishes herself as an 'opposite hitter' in the court. Over the course of her career, she played for several teams, both at the college level and professionally, including the University of Minnesota, SSC Palmberg Schwerin, Bartoccini Fortinfissi Perugia, and currently, for Imoco Volley Conegliano in Italy. She also represented the United States in various national teams from 2015 onwards, including the Under-19 and the senior women's national volleyball team.

Stephanie's exceptional skills were evident from an early age. While she was still in East Ridge High School, she became the first volleyball athlete to sign with an NCAA Division I Program - in her case, the University of Minnesota. In her senior year at high school, Stephanie was named the Florida Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year, recording 424 kills, 189 digs, and 25 blocks. She also played on the youth and junior USA national teams, and won a silver medal at the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship.

While playing for the University of Minnesota, she became the first player in the school's history to earn AVCA First Team All-American honors as a freshman. In total, she earned these honors on five separate occasions during her time at the university, an achievement that was made possible due to an extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Stephanie also led the team to a conference championship in 2018 and an NCAA Final Four appearance in 2019.

Stephanie's record at Minnesota was nothing short of extraordinary - she ended her career as only the second player in conference history to surpass 2,000 kills and 1,500 digs. Moreover, she was named First Team All-Big Ten for all five seasons. After graduating from university, Stephanie continued her career in Germany, where she played for SSC Palmberg Schwerin during 2021-2022. She then moved to Italy to play for Bartoccini Fortinfissi Perugia in 2022 and currently, for Imoco Volley Conegliano.

Her successful career has also been marked by numerous awards and honors. Stephanie was named the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2020 and 2021. She also won a silver medal with SSC Palmberg Schwerin at the German Super Cup during the 2021-2022 season. A warrior on the court, Stephanie has proved time and time again that she is one of the top volleyball players of her generation.
