About	Judith Kaye (McConnell) Moore died from pancreatic cancer on March 2, 2023 at her home in Panama City, FL. She was surrounded by so much love and felt all of the many prayers and well-wishes from her family and friends. Judi is survived by her husband Bill and son Bill, III (Luc) of Nazelles-Negron, France where he teaches at the University of Tours; her brother Alexander Dermet McConnell of Lynchburg, VA, numerous cousins and so many friends she made in Panama City during our 35 years here. She will always be missed by her Scottie Emma. Judi was predeceased by her parents Alexander D. McConnell and Eileen McDermott McConnell of Charlotte, NC. She graduated East Mecklinberg High School in Charlotte, NC, attended Queens College two years and was one of a few female junior transfers accepted to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC in 1967 when it was mostly a male university. Her first weekend in Chapel Hill, Judi met her future husband Bill on a blind date. They would spend the next 55 years together. Judi was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at UNC and also inducted into Phi Delta Kappa society of professional educators. Judi’s father, a WWII bomber pilot rejoined General Motors Corporation after the war and returned home to Greensburg, PA where Judi was born on 26 January 1948. She often remarked that as her father moved up the corporate ladder at GM, she moved more often than she ever did later as the wife of a career Marine aviator. She married Marine Corps Second Lieutenant William W. Moore, Jr. on 14 September 1969 in Charlotte, NC. Judi spent almost a decade in Beaufort, SC while Bill made numerous deployments and tours overseas with various Marine squadrons; followed by five years in Virginia; during which their son, William W. Moore, III was born. Their last overseas assignment was a three year family tour in Iwakuni, Japan. They returned to the states for Bill’s final active duty assignment, a Joint Services tour with NORAD at Tyndall, AFB before retiring in 1991. Throughout their marriage, Judi was a classroom teacher, school guidance counselor, administrator and assistant principal, all the while earning a Masters in Education from the University of South Carolina. From her first job as a second grade school teacher at a little school in Lobeco, SC, to her guidance counseling, administrative and assistant principal positions in South Carolina, Virginia, Department of Defense Schools in Japan and finally with Bay District Schools in Panama City, FL from 1988 until she retired in 2006 as Assistant Principal of Bay Haven Charter School; Judi was recognized throughout her career with many performance awards attesting to her exceptional dedication to her students and school staff. Following retirement, Judi helped support many local Republican candidates seeking office and served three very successful years as President of the Republican Women of NW Florida. Her accomplishments were recognized by then Governor and Mrs. Scott. Judi was always a huge Carolina basketball fan and was never happier than when her Tarheels “beat Dook”. In lieu of flowers, Judi requested donations be made to Covenant Hospice. The care and dedication of all the nurses at Florida Cancer Affiliates and Dr. Weber’s perseverance against the odds will never be forgotten. We send our deep gratitude to the nurses, social workers and other members of Covenant Hospice who helped Judi transition to a pain free afterlife. May she Rest In Peace. To honor her wishes, a private service and celebration of life will be held at a later date followed by interment in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg, PA.
