| About Me | I joined the USMC in Aug 1966. Got to Vietnam in Jan 67 in an infantry unit. I was wounded by a grenade in Oct 67 and by a bullet in Nov 67. When I got home in Jan 68 I went to Camp Lejeune NC. In April 68 I left for a Mediterranean Cruise with the 8th Marines. I got discharged in May of 69 and returned to Akron. I worked at General Tire. That got old and boring fast. I rejoined the Corps in 72 and spent 6 months in Cuba. Went to Okinawa in early 75 and helped retake the SS Mayaguez at the end of Vietnam. After returning to the states in 76 I did various training and in 78 Left for another Med Cruise. I was transferred to Hawaii in 1980 and stayed until 82. I visited the Philippines, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Thailand, Diego Garcia and Mombasa Kenya.(I'm sure I missed a couple) I have been every time zone on the planet (I don't mean I flew over them, I was either on the ground or water). Travel was 4th class to be sure but the countries were great. I left the USMC and married a Sailor girl. I worked as the Base Locksmith on several bases.
