About	Peter Anthony "Pappy" Cisneros Sr. 1951 - 2011 Peter Anthony Cisneros passed away peacefully on February 8, 2011 surrounded by his wife, children and their spouses. Peter or "Tony" was born on November 8, 1951 to Peter and Trinidad Cisneros and grew up with siblings Tommy, Linda, Christy, and Arthur. Peter graduated from East Bakersfield, High School in 1969; he married his high school sweetheart, Edna Flores. They moved to San Diego where he worked for The Happy Steak. Shortly after moving to San Diego, Pete and Edna had their first two children, Peter Anthony Cisneros, Jr. and Thomas Gregory. Peter returned to Bakersfield where he managed and opened several Perkos and Happy Steak restaurants. When he was not involved in the restaurant business, he worked in the oilfields in many capacities. From Bakersfield, Peter moved his family to Oklahoma where he managed his father-in-law's Suit and Slack Shop. The final move brought them back to Bakersfield and shortly thereafter Pete and Edna had their third child, Sarah Elizabeth McMillan. It was in Bakersfield that Pete was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of opening up his own restaurant, Pappy's Coffee Shop. After experiencing excellent growth, he hired additional employees and in 2008 opened a second Pappy's in Shafter, CA. He found endless joy in his three grandchildren: Cierra, Matthew and Cadence and never turned down an opportunity for them to come and spend time with Papa. Peter suffered a major stroke in 2003 and his mobility decreased, however that did not stop him from being involved in every aspect of Pappy's. He loved being there and never missed an opportunity to hear a customer's life story and to share his in return. He was proud of what Pappy's had become and appreciated his employees and the loyalty of the customers. He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter Mata and Trinidad Cruz Cisneros; brothers, Thomas and Arthur Cisneros. The family would like to thank the staff and physicians of the Bakersfield Heart Hospital and Mercy Hospital for providing excellent care. In addition they appreciate the Dr.'s W. Baker, S. Singh, T. Ferrar, Amin, Klang, Joshi, Garcia-Pacheco and Ahmed for providing the best medical care available. Visitation will be on February 10th, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Mortuary. Services will be February 11th, 3:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel; graveside service will immediately follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. A celebration of Pappy's life will follow the graveside service for family, friends, customers and employees. www.bakersfield.com/obits
