About	In 1963 Gerald graduated from Earlham High School, and shortly thereafter joined the Air National Guard. Here he served his country faithfully achieving the rank of Airman Third Class. While in the National Guard he completed his education in Air Condition and Refrigeration at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas.
Events	Gerald worked for Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines as an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineer. This is where he met Virginia Stonehocker, and later married her on April 4, 1970 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. To this union two children were born, Monica and Brian, and they made their home in Carlisle and DeSoto. Gerald and Virginia later parted ways and he moved to Winterset where he worked at Northward Plaza for many years. Gerald enjoyed tinkering and being a handyman for his daughter Monica. He also liked taking motorcycle trips and working on his cars and trucks.
