Matthai, Byron Miller "Bud", III, of Davie died September 23, 2001. He came to this area in 1969. He was a detective with the City of Ft. Lauderdale, retiring after 25 years of service. He is survived by his wife Kim, daughters Melissa, Megan, and Lauren, his mother Shirley Matthai of Melbourne, brother Craig (Karoline) of Lake Mary, FL, Nancy (George) Wenn of Stevensville, MD, granddaughter Gabriela, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and his sister. Friends will be received at the T.M. Ralph Funeral Home Sawgrass/ Weston 371 NW 136 Avenue on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church on Thursday. Interment will follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a tuition fund has been established his daughter's education at St. Bonaventure School.
