Air Force, 4 Years
After Durham High School graduation I enlisted in the Air Force. I was assigned to Vandenberg Air Force Missile Base 3 years located in Calif and a base in England for 1 year. I considered a military promotion to Officer. After completing a 2 year Associate College Degree, the military was willing to fund 2 additional years for my college Bachelors Degree. In return I was to commit to a 7 year Active Service contract. I declined the program. I served my 4 year military obligation. After the military I completed the college requirements for a Masters Degree. My military experience identified the path to succeed.

My AFSC was 30150 which is aircraft radio repair. All radios and communication systems for aircraft. I was on active duty from December 1967 until December 1971, with June 1969 until June of 1970 was spent in SEA at a base in Thailand in support of Vietnam. Most of my remaining time on active duty was spent at Norton AFB in San Bernardino, CA. working on C-141 cargo aircraft.
