About ?Celebration of Life for Debra Barnes Martin
Debra Ann (Gigi) Barnes Martin (68) from Nashville, Tennessee left us in body and entered God's Kingdom in spirit on July 4, 2021.

Debra was born November 20, 1952, on Fort Benning Army Base in Georgia. She is the daughter of Glen Barnes Jr. and Mary Martha Harrell Barnes and stepmother Evelyn Ladd Barnes. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Martin and sons Derek Bohanan (Jamie) and Jason Bohanan (Kathy), stepchildren Cory Martin and Lisa West, grandchildren Kirkland, Kohen, Irie, Garyn, Brody, Dillon, brothers Kenneth (Margie), Jeffrey (Elaine), Neal (Denene), Rodney (Anita), and Timothy, Uncle David Harrell (Debbie), stepbrother and stepsisters Darlene (deceased), Brenda, Linda, Kay, Cindy, and Bubba. Along with cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was truly the matriarch of the family. She had numerous friends young and old that filled her life with joy.

Debra graduated from Dupont High School in the class of 1970. She has continued her friendships to this day with her alumni. She retired from BellSouth/ATT as an operator and continued her career with HCA Medical Group as a highly respected Executive Assistant.

Debra was a loving soul that could light up any room with her presence and infectious laughter, if not for her classy style or her wonderful conversations, then her dance moves would get you. She loved life in its whole, the people in her life as well as the beauty of life itself. She was that light we all ask for in our lives that could never be replaced.

Debra loved Family and Friends most in her life. She loved nothing more than the gathering of both. If you weren’t family, she would go out of her way to make you feel that you were. She had that ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved. Debra loved the history of families and enjoyed working on the Family Ancestry and loved to share it with others.

Each year, there will be no better celebration when family and friends come together on July 4 to celebrate the life and times of our beloved Debra. The skies will be filled with lights all over the world reminding us of the bright light she was for all of us.
