About Mr. Eddie Mender Jr. Obituary
Specialist (SPC) Eddie Mender, Jr. was born in Columbia, SC on June 2, 1965, to the late
Freddie Mender and Eddie Mender. He departed this life on January 7, 2025.
Eddie completed his education in the Richland County Public School System, graduating from
Dreher High School. After graduating, he went on to enlist in the United States Army. SPC
Mender received his Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson,
South Carolina. Eddie completed his tour of duty in Kassel, Germany.
While serving, SPC Mender received the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army
Lapel Button, Rifle Bar/Expert Badge with a Marksman Badge for the M16, Expert Badge with
the Hand Grenade Bar/Expert Badge with a 45 Caliber Pistol Bar.
Eddie Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie (2013) and Freddie (2014).
Eddie Jr. leaves to cherish his memory with his wife, Claudia; two daughters, Joanna (Jeffrey)
Clark of Berlin, Germany and Carol Anne Mender of Kassel, Germany; one son, Jourdan Wiefel
of Spain; two granddaughters, Tamia Clark and Amaya Clark; one grandson, Jordan Clark; one
brother, Frederick (LaKita) Mender; one sister, Duana (Samuel) Mender Crummey; a special and
devoted niece, Oliva D. Mender; five uncles, John El (Viola) Mender, Sr., Samuel (Carolyn)
Wolfe, Alphonzo (Louise) Wolfe, Ben Mack and Fred (Sandra) Anderson; seven aunts, Lottie
(Joseph) Nelson, JoAnn Mender Ashford, Fredine Wolfe-McNeal, Rose Thomas, Sylvia (Earl)
Jones, Virginia Anderson and Josephine (Bennie) Simmons; a host of other relatives and friends
who will all miss him dearly.
