JOHN ALONZO BROCKWAY
1941 - 2000
A tax accountant who maintained a practice in Corte Madera and in Downers Grove, Illinois, was stricken unexpectedly at his home in Downers Grove on December 26, 2000 and died the next day at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 59.
Mr. Brockway, whose father was an accountant, was a graduate of Downers Grove High School in 1959 before moving to San Francisco in the 1960's. He graduated with a degree in accounting from Golden Gate University, then became an Enrolled Agent. He began the Corte Madera practice in 1978 while living with his family in Tiburon. He started the Downers Grove practice in 1980 and traveled frequently between the two states.
He was a Mason and a Rotarian, having served twice as president of the Downers Grove Rotary Chapter where he also was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was additionally a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents.
Mr. Brockway is survived by his wife, Sandy Brockway; brother, Frank Brockway of Palos Hills, Illinois; sister, Ellen Bunning of San Francisco; son, John Michael of Champaign, Illinois; daughters, Mrs. Susan Brockway Cole of Glendale, Arizona and Jennifer Brockway of Champaign.
