About	Passed away June 13, 2010. Born on October 28, 1933, Pat spent 25 years as a high school educator, including teaching physical education at Dos Pueblos High School and San Marcos High School from 1973 to 1996. She was a leader in local high school athletics. She started the girls' basketball program at Dos Pueblos and advised the cheer and song leader teams at both San Marcos and Dos Pueblos. She received Masters degrees in Education from Boston University and the University of California at Santa Barbara. She received her undergraduate degree from San Jose State and attended Santa Ynez High School. Pat's parents Roy and Dagney Appel brought the family out from Nebraska to Solvang in 1936. She grew up in Solvang with four brothers (Marlow, Lyman, Roger and Clinton) and three sisters (Vivian, Mary and SueSue). Pat loved to spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed playing golf and watching her grandsons' baseball games. Pat touched the lives of many and will be missed dearly. Pat is survived by her sons Matthew, Michael and Tim, grandsons Tyler and Noah, her sister Vivian Sanchez and brother Clinton Appel.
