About Me	Right after school I spent six years in the USMC Infantry. I was able to really learn what I could do and I was also afforded the opportunity to see much of the world. I met my wife Kim while I was stationed in Bermuda from 1989-1991. After finishing out my contract with the USMC in 1994 I worked as a pool lifeguard at Ross Norton Park in Clearwater. During this time I began attending Saint Petersburg Junior College. I graduated from SPJC in 1997 with aAA in Liberal Arts. I then decided to pack up the family and head out to school in Indiana where I attended Indiana University and majored in English. I graduated from Indiana University in 2000 with a BA in English. I had thought of becoming a teacher at this time but my GI bill ran out and I started looking at entering the business world to try and support my family. I was recruited by Sears and moved out to Virginia. I then worked for Sears as a manager trainee for just over a year but ended up leaving them and worked for Collegiate Funding Services. Collegiate Funding Services is a student loan consolidation company and I started out on the sales floor and worked my way up to become a team manager. Unfortunately my leadership style didn't match up with the company's attitude toward employees and I was out looking for work. For a long time I had been thinking about trying my hand at teaching and I decided that I would try it out first by substitute teaching. I found that teaching was great for me and that I was pretty good at it. I attended Spotsylvania county's Career Switcher program and became fully licensed 6-12 grade English teacher.
