Kids today enjoy the luxury of air conditioned classrooms. I remember when opened windows was the only way to cool the room. And the bumble bee that came in and was buzzing everyone. Panic ensued. Even the jocks were dodging its onslaught. When it came close to me, I just smashed it between my hands. Later when someone said something to Mitch Felchle about how he was scared of a little bee, I laughed out loud and pointed a finger at him. He reached across the isle and stabbed me in my left leg with his pencil. I had to go home at noon to did the lead out of the wound with a needle and change my jeans for a pair without blood on them, or holes in them from chemistry class escapades using the droppers in place of squirt guns. Oh, those were the good old days!
