| About Me | Min. Tommy Brooks is an anointed psalmist/songwriter located in the DFW metroplex. At the young age of 23, Min. Brooks is already on his way to becoming a seasoned veteran in the choral scene. He has been directing since 1996. His experience with choirs began with the youth choir at St Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. In 1999 Min. Brooks took began to assist with the Adult Mass Choir at St Emmanuel and stayed in rotation as one of the assistant directors until 2005. In 2005, Tommy Brooks was blessed with the distinct honor of becoming the director for The University of North Texas Voices of Praise. A year later he was promoted to head director. During this time frame Min Brooks was privileged to work with some of gospel’s greatest talent. He has directed behind nationally acclaimed artist Tommye Young-West and also Gaye Arbuckle. Apart from being an excellent director Min. Brooks has also proven himself to be a talented vocalist and songwriter. The earliest signs of his undeniable vocal talent came in 2004 when he sang background on “I Had to Wait on Him,” a track that can be found on the Joe Stevenson and Friends project. In 2004, Min. Brooks founded Tru Praize Music Ministry, a group out of Denton, TX. Since 2004 Min Brooks and Tru Praize have been ministering around the DFW metroplex. In this span of time they have shared the stage with 2004 American Idol contestant George Huff, Titus Glenn, Chris Chism and Candy West of Myron Butler and Levi. Also to his own credit, Min Brooks took part in Prophetess Juanita Bynum’s “Gospel Goes Classical.” The concert, which took place in 2007, was held at the Meyerson Center. A select group of Dallas’s finest singers accompanied Bynum along with Myron Williams that night. Tommy Brooks is also a budding songwriter and arranger. His first live recording, “Soul Cry,” is slated for January 2010. The eclectic offering will be one that is centered on repentance, praise and love. Though music has been the basis of his ministry for many years it does not totally define who he is as a minister. He is a licensed minister that serves at Latter House Glory Tabernacle, located in Denton, TX. Whatever the vehicle is, be it song or the spoken wor...(read more) |
