Starting at age 14, after the loss of his grandmother to asbestos poisoning, he dedicated his career path and family focus to sustainability. He currently serves on the board of the Sustainability Alliance of Southern California, and was named in SDNN’s top 35 under 35 green entrepreneurs and is the organizer of the San Diego Green Economy Meetup. BENCHMARKS & MILESTONES Selected to be the first individual and organization in San Diego County to premiere the Chevy Volt to the region at a unique public/ private event in November of 2009 and was quoted in an interview as coining the phrase “the EV wars have begun”. Personally selected to drive community awareness for the Chevy Volt and selected to host a block party at my home during the Unplugged Tour in 2010. Selected by Executive Producer Rebecca Bamberger to be featured in the second season of her Business TV show, “Next 500”, for my leadership with EcoHub. Today, Next 500 airs on Biz Television, a national business network. As the show’s host, Rebecca continues to bring viewers up close and inside business worlds by exploring dozens of the world’s established and up and coming companies and the people who started them. Personally responsible for launching San Diego’s first Cleantech/ green business Incubator, which is documented in the San Diego Business Journal. Co-chair of “CEO’s Say No on 23” and co-author of the open letter to the editors “San Diego CEOs Issue Statement Opposing Proposition 23”, a campaign to urge other CEOs to join forces for the only official CEO organized gathering in the State of California. Under a CEO mentorship by Robert Noble, Chairman and CEO of Envision Solar International, Inc and has appeared in every major newpaper in town. Invited to Citi Smith Barney’s Park Avenue office in 2007 to host a symposium called “the Economic State of Green Building” with Vice President of Industry Analytics, Alliances and Strategic Initiatives at McGraw-Hill Construction (MHC). Mr. Bernstein manages (MHC's) Washington, DC office, which is responsible for industry and government alliances and also manages the company's Research and Analytics division in Lexington, Massachusetts which develops and maintains the company's construction industry statistics, building stock information, and related databases.
