| About Me | Lesbian, mom, puzzle addict (seriously), die-hard lefty, active in feminist politics and programs, progressive Judaism, women’s peace groups. I worked for years at rape crisis centers – the last 10 years with victims under 14 - and battered women’s shelters. Very proud of the fact I helped develop Israeli curriculum for child abuse prevention. Special ed teacher and counselor for 28 years, then left the classroom for hi tech. (Ha! Official geek.) Now I've opened my own business, translation and editing. Dancer (and daughter of a dancer, and mother of a dancer). Dance is my soul food. Love music – mostly folk, women's music, rock, musicals – but almost anything goes. My mp3 player is in a time warp, not much past the 70s there. I am never without at least one book (murder mystery, usually) and at least one knitting project in my bag wherever I go. I knit on buses, waiting at the doctor's office … occasionally I have been known to knit in the supermarket checkout line. Tea freak. Don't do coffee. Have about 50 kinds of tea at any one time – swap a lot with other tea freaks. When I'm online, I usually hang out at Ravelry (knitting community), Pinterest, and WOW (Women Online Worldwide). Partner of 30 years can’t understand how I can spend so much time online with “strangers”. I tell her it’s my way of socializing without having to clean the living room. Darling beloved daughter is in her late teens. Know the Mark Twain quote “When I was 14 I thought my father was the biggest fool in the world…..when I turned 21 I was amazed at how much the old man had learned in 7 years…” ? Well……we’re in the middle of that.
