About Me	"It is awfully important to know what is your business, and what is not." ~ Gertrude Stein * * * * * * * * * * * Homosexuality is NOT a choice, but homophobia is. * * * * * * * * * * * A lot of people want to know about my stroke, so here it is: (Never too young to die) Over a year ago I was at a party when I suffered a stroke. It was a hemorrhagic stroke located at my left basal gangla, remote infarct left frontal lobe with associated encephalomalacia. There was a glob of blood in my brain the size of a golf ball. I should have died. I did not die. I spent over a month in the hospital, drooling, and kinda out of it. The entire right side of my body was paralyzed. Lost a lot of memory. Didn't know how to use the phone. The doctors said I wouldn't walk again. But lo, in my defiant nature, I regained about 80% (or so) of my memory. I am walking with a cane, and hope to get rid of that this year. My acupuncturist says I will be recovered almost completly this year. That is progress. There has been lots of support around me. My friends built parallel bars for me to learn to stand. Another friend loaned me a cycling machine. My friends take me everywhere they go. To movies, concerts (i.e., Tina Turner, for one.) I am exposed to tons of books and stimuli. Now, I have FaceBook. The rest wil be history. Good history. Let me know if there are still questions. I think I covered it ad nauseum.
