May Lou moved to Beckwourth, in Portola Valley, an area north of Lake Tahoe. They owned and operated a gravel pit. Her husband, Jim, became a County Supervisor. They started purchasing other properties when they became available. They started a business where customers could rent a 3-4 wheel drive motorcycle and drive them on trails around their properties. Customers came from other countries to do this. Later, they converted a barn into a wedding/wedding party site with dancing, etc. She had 2 sons who helped maintain the motorcycles, etc. A daughter lived next to her on the ranch, called "Diamond S Ranch."
