About Me | ( July 2015) The Gilmours My beliefs: Some of my best friends have 4 legs and bark or meow. I believe other animals deserve the same rights , respect, care and love as the human animal. So call me Crazy. I've been called lots worse ! I believe in God but not the one that has people kill or make war in his name. I don't believe in organized religions . My Family: My wife Lynn: Lynn is a pharmacist and is the proud owner of a 24 hr Shoppers Drug Mart and a 2nd smaller Shoppers Drug Mart here in Edmonton. She loves to read, spend time with family and our pets and friends, boating RV'ing, gardening Our Children: Laura , our daughter, is now 29 and in her 3rd year of a PhD in educational psychology at the U of A . she has done all of this in spite of her severe Asperger's syndrome. She has had many publications, written a chapter in a text book. and is in demand as an expert speaker in her area of research. Greg ,our son is now 29. Greg, graduated from a full International Baccalaureate program with honors and distinction from high school. He then graduated from the U of A with a 4 year degree in Biochemistry. He married Natalie in his second year of Biochemistry. Following this, he graduated from medical school with a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Calgary (class of 2011). Greg and Natalie lived in Saskatoon while Greg completed an internal medicine residency program Greg and Natalie are now living in Regina. July 2015: Greg has earned his FRCP (C) credentials in internal medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons . Greg now works full time as a staff internist at the Regina General Hospital . He is involved in the clinical teaching unit and as academic staff at the University of Sask. Medical School. Along the way Greg managed to find time and earn a black belt in ITF Taekwondo and a red belt in WTF Taekwondo as well as to compete in national and provnicial tournanents up until his second year of medical school. He now studies Kick Boxing and mixed martial arts. Lynn and I are very proud of both of them. We are also expecting our 1st grand child, Please God. in August of this year From Natalie and Greg. Our pets: We have four lovely German shepherds ANNIE, 6 years old, EVA .7 Years old, . Lexie, 4 and Zeek 1 We also have a Maine Coon cat,Penny Lane who is 3 ans an arage kitten called Fang .The cats loves the dogs and the dogs love cats. They even play fetch together and chase each other for fun. They all are very gentle with each other and it is so cute and fun to watch. Sometimes they curl up on the couch and the cat sleeps on the dogs. Laura also has a bearded dragon called Zee Me: I retired from the University of Alberta Hospital after working there as a registered respiratory therapist. My favorite posting was in the ENT unit. I still miss my coworkers and patients very much. I am also an ex full time/part time musician / singer /songwriter . I have a small but well equipped recording studio in a few rooms of our home. I hibernate in it during the winter months there. I love all good music no matter the genre. I listen to many styles for enjoyment. I'm interested in many genre of song writing , however I love great melody and strive to write meaningful lyrics. I really enjoy listening to a singer who is natural but makes a song their own. Vocal acrobatics to me are akin to shredding on a guitar, fun sometimes but not as a regular diet. I have been and still am a member of SOCAN since way back in the old days when CAPAC preceded them. I have placed songs with Warner Chappel Music Canada .I was fortunate in having other artist chart nationally with my songs. These days I focus on learning to play my guitar better, Sing better, write better, plus I am learning to play other.musical instruments. I am also picking up on the music theory that I was too stubborn to learn as a kid. I am working on my recording , production and arranging chops .learn.Besides all things music, first and foremost, I love spending quality time with family and friends. This includes the 4 legged family members. I also like boating, RV'ing, swimming, a great debate when everyone has knowledge of the subject, chess, reading, walking, driving, puns, dry humor, good food and wine . I will always miss the ocean and beaches, NS,NB,NF and PEI and my great friends there! I do love Alberta though .The people are very kind here and there is a rich cultural diversity where near everyone is willing and wanting to share aspects of their respective cultures. The weather is good usually and I love the daylight lasting until almost 11 pm in the mid summer . Last summer I stared working on a new 10 song CD, and released The first song, How Long Has It Been., The second song , This Ones For April Was released in May 2015. I have learned from and work with so many talented really really nice people during the months it took to do these 2 songs. Safe ...(read more) |
