Trained at Ft.Benning, GA and served with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vicenza Italy.
The 173rd "Sky Soldiers" jumped into Iraq at the beginning of Iraqi Freedom in March of 2003.

Rand Torgler
Class of 1975
Marine Corps, 20+ Years
Rand started out in boot camp and was persuaded to apply for the enlisted commissioning program. He graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1982 with a degree in Political Science. He went on to Quantico for Officer Basic Training and also training in his field of expertise...Adjutant/Personnel Officer. He served as Adjutant for 2nd Battalion 8th Marines from 1983 to 1986. He was in the battle group that relieved the unit bombed in Beirut in October 1983 and was diverted enroute to the invasion of Granada. Later he served as Personnel Officer for Fleet Marine Force Atlantic during Desert Storm. He was charged with getting all the units that were sent up to speed. He spent 12 hour days searching the data bases for the right person with the right skills and get them sent over to the new unit. His last position was with 4th Marine recruiting district in Philly. It was near the end of out tour that the Naval Base in Philly was beginning to close down. Rand retired with 20 years as a Captain on June 10, 1995. He is currently the Executive Assistant to the CFO of A.Schulman, Inc. a specialty plastics manufacturer headquartered in Fairlawn, OH.
