Drafted into Army in Nov '66, sent to Vietnam May '67 - June '68 (stationed in DaNang during Tet offensive in Feb '68 - DaNang was nicknamed 'Rocket city' due to constant barrage of rockets, mortars, and anything else 'Charlie' could find to throw at us!) Then from Aug '68 to Nov '69 stationed in Vicenza, Italy. Jan '70 - Sept '86 served in the Oregon Air National Guard (12 years of which was as the NCOIC of Communications Squadron. During this time we received 2 Outstanding Unit Awards, and were sent on 6 out-of-country deploymeets to Madrid, Spain; Cairo, Egypt; Seoul, Korea; & Incirlik, Turkey.) Unfortunately the unit was deactivated 9 months prior to retirement date with no available units to transfer to.

Kevin Rentner
Class of 1979
Army, 20+ Years
Commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant of Military Intelligence from the University of Washington Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1981, Lieutenant Colonel Rentner initially served in the Washington Army National Guard. In 1983 he entered continuous active duty and accepted a Regular Army appointment in 1993. He retired on July 30th, 2003 after over 23 years of service.
Kevin’s tours of duty included postings in four states, and the countries of Belgium, Korea, and Somalia. His missions took him to 24 countries on five continents. He received combat campaign credit for duties in Somalia, and also served in the hazardous duty locations of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo. He is a graduate of the Army Command & General Staff College and the Armed Forces Staff College.
Lieutenant Colonel Rentner continues to serve and protect his community as a Community Corrections Officer with the Washington Department of Corrections in Longview, supervising felony parolees and probationers in Cowlitz County.
