Deborah Barnett, 74, passed away peacefully in home hospice care with loved ones by her side on May 11, 2024. Debby was born in Crookston MN to parents John and Marion (Korvela) Patenaude of rural Gentilly, loved her childhood on the farm and graduated Class of 1968 from Crookston Central HS. Deb was married to Dennis Johnson of Crosby, lived on a hobby farm near Garrison and owned and operated The Hair Company in Brainerd, making many friends. Later she married Travis Barnett, together raising his children Anna and Brien, before moving to the Caribbean and enjoying the island life with Travis. As a widow she moved back to MN and spent quality time near daughter Anna and Jeremy Eastman’s lake home and their 3 children, Bella, Sammy, and Jacob. In her travels Debby took many more children under her wing, sharing her wisdom, heart and joy. In her last 12 years, with her companion and partner Floyd, Deb enjoyed her love of the outdoors, hiking with their dog Haley, gardening, fishing at their cabin, cooking fabulous food for family and friends and sharing her love for God and life. Debby is survived by her partner Floyd Aubol, Sturgeon Lake, MN, mother Marion Patenaude, Baxter, sisters Doreen Mahoney, Jensen Beach, FL, Jan Patenaude Jamison, Pahoa, HI Suzanne Gramer, Brainerd, Jodi Williams, Baxter, many relatives, as well as Anna’s family. She was preceded in death by her father and 5 siblings, Katherine, John III, Dennis, Robert, and Timothy. Debby’s caring nature, humor and zest for life will be missed. There will be a private Celebration of Life service before interment at Blomskog Cemetery, Sturgeon Lake.
