About Me | Married and divorced twice. Had two great kids. Always worked. From clerk-typist to stenographer with civil service at Eglin. In 1984, I was offered a position with the Senate Committee on Armed Services on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Senator Barry Goldwater was the Chairman at that time. I've never worked harder...weekends, holidays, until the wee hours of the morning. Much was accomplished and many life-long friendships were developed. I returned to my family home in Laurel Hill in 1989 to take care of my father who was a stroke survivor. I went to work for the Special Operations Command at Hurlburt during that period of time. After Daddy passed away, my former boss from Capitol Hill called to see if I would consider returning to Washington and I said yes. From 1992 - 1998 I was secretary to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict. I retired in 1998 and moved to Colorado to be close to my sister Cheri. At home, I have my own non-profit organization for animal rescue. I rescue, spay/neuter/vaccinate and attempt to find homes for orphaned, injured or displaced felines. The organization is called "The Loma Cat House." I'm the honorary madam. On a personal level, after being single for the better part of 30 years, I've met my life partner. He is a semi-retired veterinarian. Perhap...(read more) |
