About | Shirley Keefer Simmons was born on January 22, 1942 in Marysville, Pennsylvania, to Anntenete & Glenn Keefer. In 1952 Glenn moved his family from Levelgreen. Pennsylvania to San Diego, CA. after graduating Crawford high School in 1959, she worked at PacBell, before meeting Ron Simmons, her Husband of 60 years. Ron & Shirley were married in January of 1962. Also in December of 1962 they purchased their first house on Mullikan Street in University City. In 1966 the draft and Army moved Shirley & Ron to a brief stay in Alaska for 2 years, when returning to San Diego in 1968. In July of 1969 Shirley became a mother, when she got to bring home Glenn, Ronda Came along on April 5, 1971, the same year Shirley & Ron, along with Woody & Dede opened Simmons & Wood, Inc. In 1974, Shirley and Ron Moved from University City to Lakeside where Shirley stayed a fulltime homemaker taking care of Ron, Glenn and Ronda and their home, which was her pride & joy. In 1987 Shirley and Ron moved from Lakeside to Alpine, where Shirley has lived for the past 34 years. Shirley loved gardening, cooking and in 1991 was blessed with her first Grandchild, Little Ronny. Then came Erin, Amanda & Violet. Shirley loved traveling, Shirley and Ron have travelled all over the world to many places to count, with the exceptions of the Parts of the Middle East, Antarctica & Greenland. In her later years she joined El Cajon Rotary and other organizations as she loved to give back and volunteer in her community. Shirley Leaves Behind, Husband Ron, Son Glenn, Daughter Ronda, Grandchildren Ronny, Erin, Amanda & Violet, Sisters Francie Bonner & Anita Cummings, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, fiends, to many to mention. |
