About | Diagnosed with kidney failure at age 4, Deborah lived a valiant life. Refusing to let her illness define her, she did more than most healthy people. She took degrees in math and chemistry cum laude from Mt. Saint Mary's College and her teaching credential from SDSU. Deborah volunteered one summer at Mt. Rushmore and went to Europe during inter term. She moved to Kansas and worked in R&D at Harcros Chemical. Called to teach, she taught chemistry at St. Thomas Aquinas High for nine years. A baseball fanatic, she ushered for the Kansas City Royals for 18 years while working full time and spending several hours a week on dialysis. Deborah earned a Master's in Science Education from Montana State University in 2009. After her third transplant, she returned home, where she tutored chemistry, worked for the Padres as a Prime Suites Host, and volunteered at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center until her kidney failed. Her indomitable spirit and cheerfulness were an inspiration. Deborah is survived by her parents, Vic and Sharon Dilloway and brothers Vic Dilloway and wife Tammy, Colin Dilloway and wife Tina, Keith Dilloway and wife Margaret; nephews Andy and wife Amanda, Zach, Chris, Cody, Ethan; and nieces Brittany, Elyse, and Kaiya Dilloway. She is greatly missed by both friends and family. The family suggests donations to the National Kidney Foundation, San Diego Hospice, or the Reuben H. Fleet. |
