About Deceased October 29, 2007 in San Diego, from breast cancer. Marcie was born on October 5, 1967 in San Diego. After graduating and starting college, she began traveling abroad. Her travels included studies at Oxford, and in Scotland and Paris, which contributed credits to her graduation from San Diego State University.

Building on those first two trips, she continuously toured when she could, visiting countries throughout Europe. Marcie visited nearly every country in Europe, developing a particular love for Paris, the city of lights, which she made several trips to and arranged to begin or end most of her tours. Her intrepid travels included trips to countries behind the Iron Curtain before the end of the cold war. She found something beautiful in every country she visited, from the Mediterranean to Scandinavia and the North Sea. She never failed to bring gifts from her travels to her loved ones and friends.

An avid museum-goer and lover of film and books, Marcie spent many days with her mother or friends on trips to the Getty and various venues in Balboa Park and around San Diego. She cherished her reading time, collecting Bukowski and Hemingway and reading newer authors with both aplomb and a critical eye. Her taste in movies was broad, and she enjoyed a vast assemblage of foreign, domestic, classical and modern films in numerous genres.

An accomplished cook and baker, Marcie's joy was in feeding her loved ones and friends. Her cakes, cookies, brownies and other items were favorites to family and friends alike, both at home and in her office. Marcie worked for the San Diego Union-Tribune for 13 years. Her hard work and dedication took her from the customer service phone room to the position of job scheduler, then to classified sales. After some time in that position, she moved over to the SignOnSanDiego Business Development team, her last department with the company. Along the way, she accumulated a huge group of friends and fans as she entertained with her food and travel stories, her quick wit and kind heart. Marcie is survived by her beloved husband Frank Pruett, parents Robert and Barbara, her big brother Bobby Stoddard (CHS'83), and her precious Seamus.
