She became Heaven’s toughest angel on November 30, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Penny graduated from Crawford High School in San Diego, California, in 1974. She proudly graduated from the Sheriff’s Academy in 1981 and began her 27-year career in law enforcement. Her passion for helping and protecting others made her a compassionate and fierce member of the San Diego Sheriff’s Department and a force in her community for positive change, healthy interpersonal relationships, and mental and emotional health advocacy and empowerment. In her retirement, she worked security for the Del Mar Fair and other jobs that she enjoyed, and volunteered for the local women’s domestic violence shelter. Penny was first and foremost the most kindly stubborn woman anyone will have ever met. She was funny, fearless, and made it her mission and her business in life to help make other’s lives better and heal other’s hurts. Penny is survived by her two daughters Natalie and Whitney, whom she protected with her trademark steely inner strength, and to whom she was everything. Penny is also survived her brother Russ, her cousins Stacey, Rebecca, Melody, and Claudia, her aunts Elsie and Gecene, her step children Krista, April, Timothy, and William, her nieces Gina, Taunda, Shannon, her nephew Leif, her puppy Jewel, and her kitties Tastee and Bonnington. She is preceded in death by her niece Trulie, beloved like a daughter, her mother Elizabeth, her brothers Chuck and Bob, her nephew Jay, and many beloved animal family members. Penny has been followed in death by her beloved husband Lawrence “Larry” Scholl. Penny was an avid barefoot gardener, a fierce, passionate, and prolific friend, and a mama to everyone who would let absolutely nothing short of God himself stop her from protecting her kids. A doting tender of chickens, pigs horses, dogs, cats, and people. Penny will be remembered for her stubborn brand of kindness, her hearty and generous laugh, and her prescient and selfless love for her girls. Her greatest disappointment would be that she took immaculate care of herself in order to spare her daughters losing their mother at a young age like she had, only to lose her life at the same age as Elizabeth. The world is a lot less bright with her in it, but Heaven has gained a badass angel. |
