About Me	I got my BA in history from LSU, and then proceeded to LSU Law School, where I graduated 3d in my class and served as an editor of the Louisiana Law Review. I spent the summer after law school fulfilling my military obligation attending the US Army Air Defense Artillery Officer Basic Course, where I was the Distinguished Military Graduate. I then served as a law clerk for the Hon. Alvin B. Rubin on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana for two years. Then, thinking I wanted to teach, I went to Yale and got a Master of Laws (LLM) degree, but then entered private practice at Vinson & Elkins in Houston, practicing maritime law. In 1984, I left to start a maritime and insurance practice at a firm that is now through a number of mergers known as Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell. I specialize in marine and energy insurance, doing work for the London and domestic insurance markets. I am currently serving as Secretary of the Maritime Law Association of the United States. Shari and I got married in 1979, and we have three children, John, who is 28, Tom, who is 25, and Alexandra ("Lexa") who is 23.
