My deepest condolences to Michael’s family and friends.

Michael and I were high school classmates. Covina High and I remember Michael as a standout track star. His coaches awarded the three-year Colt Varsity team member the honor of Most Valuable Player while league coaches awarded him All-League high jumper and sprinter honors. As Co-Editor-In-Chief of the Cardinal, Michael captured our senior year through his creative lens and produced a yearbook 1977 – 1980 class members’ treasure. He lived his faith as a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and demonstrated his leadership skills as a member of the Senior Class Council. Donning the quintessential cardinal and white round neck sweater and pleated short skirt of a Colt cheerleader, Michael’s lighthearted personality as a Powderpuff cheerleader during the Letterman’s Club annual Powderpuff football game fundraiser encouraged the Colt “Cuties” in their battle against the rival South Hills Huskies. He served as the club’s secretary/treasurer.

We are caretakers of Michael’s museum. Through us . . . the stories we tell others . . . he lives.

Michael was a professor of Mass Communications at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa for over 30 years. The home of the president of Briar Cliff University was renamed Crowley House.
