On June 3-4, we’re taking over the Best Western Plus Marina Shores Hotel in Dana Point. The highlight will be a 3PM Saturday afternoon class reunion in the conference room where we’ll have a time to mingle with old friends, look through photos, see videos, hear our favorite oldies and reminisce about good times.
To make this truly affordable we are skipping the usual formal dinner and asking attendees, if they so desire, to BYOB and bring snacks to share. That way there will be no charge for those only attending this afternoon event.
There are 15 incredible restaurants in the area and for those electing to dine out later that evening we’ll have sign-up sheets so you can join others in trying out the local cuisine.
Since this is a beautiful beach community with plenty to do, many of you may take the option of making a weekend of it and for that reason the hotel is setting aside a block of rooms at a special discount for those wishing to stay.
Dana Point is a great place for enjoying strolls along the beach or taking in the many local attractions like Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, the Aircraft Carrier Midway or the San Diego Zoo. Orange County airport is close-by for those arriving by air.
Thursday through Sunday the conference room will be available to us all as a gathering place and we know it’ll be in constant use.
Call the hotel directly at 949-248-1000 to book your room at the special reunion discount. It is under the name Covina Class of 61. Do not call the 800 number as this special rate is only made available through the hotel.
This is a beach resort community and rooms at the hotel sell out quickly---even months ahead of time. Since we only have so many set aside and only for a limited time, go ahead and reserve your room now. No worries. Your card will not be charged until you actually stay and you can always cancel up to 48 hours prior to arriving at no charge.
Again, we emphasize you do not need to stay at the hotel in order to attend our free Class of ’61 Reunion on that Saturday afternoon.

We are so happy to announce that we have enough interest to make the Covina High School Class Reunion happen at the Waterfront Hilton in Huntington Beach on Saturday, September 23, 2017! Time 6:00 until midnight. It will be in the Pacific Ballroom which is directly above where the reunion was held last time. The Pacific Ballroom has several large terraces open to the ocean with its breezes. We’ll have over 3,000 more square feet than last time with these terraces! The room has higher ceilings and it has been newly renovated. The hotel lobby has been newly and beautifully renovated also.
The cost is $100 per person before July 1. Thereafter, the cost will be $120.

John Torres, Class of 71, has agreed to play in his band at our Reunion Sept 23! They played at House of Blues and Vegas and will be playing 70’s, 80’s and 90’s music!
In addition, nationally recognized movie critic and famous celebrity interviewer, Tony Toscano, Class of 72, is going to MC our Reunion!

The reunion is in the Cielo Mare Ballroom. It has a beautiful ocean view. DRESS IS CASUAL! GUYS- SHORTS & HAWAIIAN SHIRTS IS PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE AND GIRLS, WE KNOW WHAT CASUAL IS!!!! We are doing food stations instead of a sit down dinner. The food will be served pretty much all night. The sooner people commit with a $25 non refundable deposit, they are assured of a spot. The Dec. 1 deadline in the first email that was sent out was INCORRECT! We are hoping that we can get 215 people to commit by April 30. If we go beyond that then the Hilton will provide a larger room. What we really need is a RSVP sent in by April 30 with a non refundable $25 deposit that will go toward your $100. The Hilton is telling us that the remainder would be due by the end of July. As of right now, we have 114 who have either sent in their full payment or the deposit. We have 83 who have said they were coming but have not sent in their deposit, so with that amount we are close to the 215 we need. The most important thing is that people get this information out since we are trying to save costs by not hiring a reunion company. So SPREAD THE NEWS! Also, if you are not in these classes but would still like to come, because you know of someone who will be there, then by all means you are welcome to buy a ticket.
