About	Granton Gary West, 69, of Corvallis, died October 23, 2013 at his home. He was born on October 15, 1944 in Stettler, Alberta, Canada. His parents were Joseph and Vera West. His family moved to Eugene in 1953 and later moved to Corvallis, where they owned and operated the Corvallis Hotel. After graduating from Corvallis High School in 1962, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Granton married his high school sweetheart, Linda Waymire, on October 25, 1963, in Weiser Idaho. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this month. Granton was a hardworking and very personable man who always was advocating for others. He worked for Oregon State University, the State of Oregon General Services, and the Oregon Rehabilitation Association. He was an active member of the Corvallis Historic Auto Club and enjoyed historic cards, tours and swap meets. Granton was preceded in death by his mother, Vera West,; father, Joseph West; and a baby daughter. he is survived by his loving wife, Linda; four children: Kelly (Steve) Mitchell, Carrie (David) Birken, Julie (Jim) Kistner, and Gary (Natalie) West; and seven cherished grandchildren: Lindsay, Zach, Rachael, Garrett, Emily, Nicole and Brandon. Granton also is survived by his sisters Betty Kelly and Caren Elliker. Granton will be deeply missed by all of his family. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations be made in Granton's name to the Boy Scouts of America. Granton's life was greatly impacted and influenced by this organization. He was a Sea Scout. A funeral service will take place at 11am, Tuesday 11/2/2013 at McHenry Funeral Home in Corvallis.
