What is Bob Estes known for?

Bob Alan Estes, a notable alumnus of Cooper High School, was born on February 2, 1966, in Graham, Texas, and brought up in Abilene, Texas. This American professional golfer's journey with golf began quite early, at the age of 4, and he made up his mind to turn pro when he was just 12. Before embarking on a professional career, Estes studied at the University of Texas from 1984 to 1988, where he was a part of the golf team and won the prestigious Haskins Award in 1988 for being the most outstanding collegiate golfer in the nation.

Estes turned professional in 1988, and over the course of his career, he has achieved four victories on the PGA Tour between the years 1994 and 2002. His highest world golf ranking was achieved on August 11, 2002, when he ranked 13th. He is particularly known for his excellent short game and rigorous physical conditioning routine. Due to a wrist injury in 2011, his participation in the PGA Tour was affected, but he still managed to partake in 12 competitions and almost won the Greenbrier Classic. Since 2016, Estes has been focusing on the PGA Tour Champions.

His best results in major championships include a tie for 4th place at the 1999 Masters Tournament, a tie for 6th place at the PGA Championships of 1993, 1995, and 1999, a tie for 11th place at the U.S. Open in 2005, and a tie for 8th place at The Open Championship in 1995. Among his four professional wins, notable ones include victories at the Texas Open (1994), FedEx St. Jude Classic (2001), Invensys Classic at Las Vegas (2001), and Kemper Insurance Open (2002).
