What is Andrae Patterson known for?

Andrae Malone Patterson, born on November 12, 1975 in Riverside, California, is a renowned American former professional basketball player and an alumnus of Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas. Standing tall at 6 feet 9 inches and weighing 255 lbs, Patterson exhibited exceptional skills in the basketball court, primarily in the power forward or center positions.

After a promising high school career, Patterson went on to play college basketball at Indiana University from 1994 to 1998 under the famous head coach Bobby Knight. His impressive performance earned him a spot in the NBA draft in 1998, where he was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2nd round as the 46th overall pick.

His playing career extended from 1998 to 2009, starting with the Minnesota Timberwolves (1998-2001). Post-NBA, Patterson spent time playing for various European teams like Adecco Estudiantes, Ricoh Manresa, Zadar, Ironi Ashkelon, Panellinios, and ultimately, Aigaleo from 2007 to 2009.

Patterson's accomplishments include being a first-team Parade All-American in 1994, a second-team Parade All-American in 1993, and being awarded as Texas Mr. Basketball in 1994. Post-retirement, Patterson transitioned into a coaching career in 2012, starting as an assistant coach with Texas–Arlington and later the Idaho Stampede. In 2015, he joined the front office of the Utah Jazz as player personnel/player programs coordinator. As of now, he serves as the assistant general manager for the Portland Trail Blazers.
