About Me	I am perpetually curious and consistently confused. I am thoroughly convinced that the world would be significantly better off if every human being had a few more IQ points, and a few more questions than answers. I am literally overjoyed by the sheer wealth of knowledge available in the world, the vast number of different thoughts and ideas to explore, and the almost infinite complexity of human expression. I realize it isn't exactly selling myself or anything, but in the interests of honesty I have to admit that I can be pretty cantankerous and belligerent most of the time. I never intend to be difficult or mean-spirited, but if something strikes me as disagreeable I am compelled to press the issue, if only so I can understand what the other person is thinking. I disagree with people more often than I agree, but always in the interests of furthering a discussion and coming to a greater understanding of each other. And of course, I might judge someone's reasoning or ideas to be flawed or inaccurate, but I would never judge them as a person for that. I might judge them as a person for other reasons, but never because we happen to disagree. I may seem brusque or even rude, and I might come off as arrogant or insulting, but I promise it isn't true. More than anything, I find myself overcome with a desire to see everyone in the world genuinely happy. Unfortunately, that tends to involve confronting unpleasant truths and doing away with pleasant delusions. What don't I spend a lot of time thinking about? General thoughts span social policy, poverty, inequality, philosophy, whether I am doing enough, what that means, whatever I'm reading and how it relates to other things I read or see or experience in a given day, human choice, health, science, psychology, statistics, economics, risk aversion, welfare economics, loved ones, why some people on the internet perceive me as a more confounding anomaly of a weirdo than I perceive them, what one ought to write and what it truly conveys... um. If you happen to possess any of the following lovely disorders, We would get along just fine: questioning, to where you have repeatedly pulled the rug out from under your beliefs (& yourself) understanding, to where you take understanding with a grain of salt * empathy, to where you can truly feel the sameness between yourself and those with profoundly different worldviews and experiences * focus, in that you can let much of what doesn't matter not matter * thoughtfulness, to where you are aware that you apparently don't know that you don't know anything, have reconciled infinite regress with pragmatism, and use humor as a device to instigate paradigm shifts.
