About Me | Memoir of The House features an articulate House in a remote forest in the Colorado Rockies between all those rocks and hard places. In the beginning, designed and built by a couple dedicated to each other, to living fully, and to creation care, The House is an innocent, abandoned when tragedy strikes the little family, but when It must deal with a series of flawed owners exhibiting greed, violence, conniving, mental cruelty, and murder, those years transform It into a wise sometimes sad sophisticate about the human condition. Stopping to admire this great log house, a willing stranger is surprisingly able to communicate with the lonely house and encourage the telling of Its story jam-packed with unfortunate realities we all can recognize. Readers agree that fiction can "burst with reality." This petite book is now in its second printing with readers continuing to love the mystery there in the fresh mountain air, the striking realistic characterizations, the articulate, discerning House, and best of all, the optimistic emphasis that they too can confront life and triumph, finding hope and joy. © 2006. He Came Crying. In Island Paradise, A Modern-Day David. A Fijian Indian youth brings with him to Hawaii, the seeds in his mind which will nourish his poetic aspirations, his search for the ultimate mind in the universe, and a soul mate. He does, indeed, "come crying," and whether he can leave behind those tears makes for absorbing reading. The love Dhan Rishi Singh (Dan) finds with Mona is a wonderful picture of East meeting West that women declare they will remember for a long time. The beautiful cover is the artistry of Lorenzino who catches the author's vision exactly. Michelangelo's David is there on the Oahu beach. The parallels with David are in Dan's story of a Modern-Day David---the love of words, of poetry, the search for spirituality, the familiar flaws. The title comes from King Lear when the King says to the Duke of Gloucester on the battlefield:: "We all came crying " into life and but "slenderly know ourselves." Enjoy witnessing the thought patterns of a sensual, articulate youth from the Pacific Rim struggling between earth and heaven in classic David style. As the story closes, readers appreciate the symphony of hope. © 2007 Shadow Women, Emerging into Light follows the changed lives of readers of Memoir. This book rather wrote itself when a pattern developed in emails between the author and readers who described gaining the courage to leave the past in the dust and head for triumphant futures. Prominent main characters are six men in the Canadian Rockies as well as selected readers in widely separated parts of the United States. Caught in various traps, cages, or shadowy circumstances, these people are empowered by a woman who has escaped and senses what others like her need. In a mystical manner, these lives cross each other through the instant medium of the Internet so that grief and loss lose their grip, wronged girls and boys find justice and peace, and withdrawn women bloom after being in a 'writing as therapy group.' The graceful ballet dancer on the cover is the essence of this true story of men and women. Even the rosy clear-wing butterfly on the back cover hovers over its shadow it is leaving behind. Once again, hope is front and center in a story to remember about freedom. (Learn how an artist in England regards the power in this story.) © 2008 Retirement years are a gift; they should be only the beginning for us. In my new book Not On The Shelf, Yet! I indulge in fantasy, creating the perfect, the ideal, the incredible utopia of a retirement residence, setting it in downtown Portland at the southern fringe of the South Park Blocks. Then I people this remarkable place with folk having the secret to full, enhanced living---the Good Life. Carefully crafted vignettes are intimate views of real persons aging well in a person-friendly environment whose purpose is to enhance daily lives. The various stories illustrate that aging is an art, not for sissies, and actually demands optimistic, active folk. They reinvent, re-imagine themselves without some marvelous guarantee of a smooth path to follow. To them, the important aspect is to search out rainbows to embrace. A magic, a mystery surrounds their days, full of possibilities as long as there is breath. Eagerly they embrace experiences, interested in everything and hence very interesting themselves. © 2013 Check out the websites: http://theinnerroom....(read more) |
