Alton Douglas McKinzie
Class of 1969
I got Teddy Pendergrass his first professional job as a drummer traveling with Little Royal and The Swingmasters in August 1968 before I returned back to Coolidge High School in September 1968 to finish my final year of High School before I continued my musical career as a Saxophonist,Singer,and MC. I have played with James Brown the Manhattans, Millie Jackson,Rufus Thomas,Carla Thomas,Solomon Burke ,Al Johnson and when I wag going to Coolidge we were known as Doug and The Fabulous Flares, we played the TV Show Teenarama and also performed for the people at Resurrection City in 1968 during the march on Washington
