125th Chizzle Wizzle

This is the 125th year of Chizzle Wizzle!! We just announced the theme to the student body today: TIMELESS

We're hoping to do some big things with the show this year and would love to get Alumni interest and support. Here's how:

1) Join us at the official CW page on Facebook : Cony HS's Chizzle Wizzle ---- this is where we will be posting general and specific information and pictures...

2) Didn't know if anyone would (would want to?) take the lead in organizing a get together for CW/all Alumni before the Wed. night "Alumni Night" show... perhaps a social hour or coffee hour? ... In our Cony food court OR in the Old Auditorium at the Flatiron Apartments?

3) The Executive Committee wants to hear from you:

WHAT ACTS DO YOU REMEMBER BEST and *possibly want to see again??

And we're hoping to interview past performers - share your fondest memories of your time participating in CW.

You can write to us at the Facebook page: "Cony HS's Chizzle Wizzle" ; emailing to lmorin1@augustaschools.org ; or writing in to Chizzle Wizzle Committee @ Cony High School.

Thank you!! - Lindsey Morin, CW Producer

Back Home

After living in three states since I graduated from Cony in 1979, the last 25 in New Hampshire, I'm happy to say I'm back in town and happy to be here. I am the night news editor for both the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel (my dad worked for the KJ in the 1970s and early 1980s).
I also have a book coming out: The Afterlife Survey, a non-fiction look at what a variety of people think about the afterlife, is being released by Adams Media, a non-fiction book publisher, in December.
Please drop me a line and say hi -- I'd love to catch up with people!

Making Changes

Hello, if I could go back and speak to the person's at graduation that talked about being the people of the future and to go out and do good things for others & make changes for the better I would say this: Since graduation I have worked many jobs but the Air-Forces and Hallowell fire Department have been some of the greatest and lowest parts of my life. Now besides driving School Bus, I work with the AFL-CIO and I'm a member of AFSME Council 93. I have spent many days on the floor at the State House Lobbying for fair pay, jobs, paid sick days and I recently worked on LD 1611 the act to stop the Department Of Labor from taking vacation pay from laid-off workers. That document was signed into Law on July 12th 2010 and I was in The Governor's office for the signing and a group photo shoot. I plan to attend many more days in the State house and for now all the time and work I have been put in has been on a total volunteer basis. When you can make a difference in other peoples lives it makes you feel good and without accepting pay it is that much nicer.

Governor's awards 1957 and 2010. Serendipity

A bit of serendipity:

In 1957 I went to the state house to receive and award for the state oratorical contest from Ed Muskie. This spring I returned to receive one from Governor Baldacci as Public Sector Volunteer of The Year. Search Frank H. Wallace (don't leave out the H!) on Google.

I have published two books this year (mentioned in the newspaper article cited above). Both are available at Amazon. Check out "the Starlight Medallions" and "Raspberries and Children."

What struck me was the symmetry with which one is occasionally surprised and humbled. Two trips to the State House. One at 17 and one at 70!

Homecoming Week 9/22-9/27

I would like to extend an invitation to the alumni to attend all home sporting events homecoming week. Each event will be celebrated with a DJ, balloons, signs and the singing of the National Anthem by Cony students. On Wednesday 9/24 there will be a bon fire/pep rally that will take place at Mill Park from 5:30pm-9:00pm. We will have two student rock and roll bands, a DJ, vendors, class booths, Ram Cards, 50/50 tickets, Cony Apparel, and face painting. We will be welcomed by Mayor Roger Katz who is declaring 9/24 "RED & WHITE DAY" in the spirit of Cony High School! We will light a 400 pallet bon fire, have student contests, the performance of a student comedian and will end the night with the school song and fire works! In addition, all fans wearing "CONY" apparel to the football game Friday night 9/26, will get in free! The students end their week with their homecoming dance. If you have any questions, please call Dolly Ford 626-0379. Thank you!
