Darrell Williams

Darrell Williams

Class of 1984

Darrell Williams is a retired Sergeant First Class and served his country for 20 years in the United States Army and some of his assignments included Germany, the Pentagon, and Korea. He was also assigned to the White House Communications Agency where he supported Presidents Bush and Clinton as an Operations Coordinator and Vice Presidents Gore and Cheney as a Communications Officer. He led several worldwide Presidential missions which included rapid responses to examine Hurricane Andrew Damage, Tornado Damage in Arkansas, the 50th Anniversary of D-Day, Bosnia, Russia, the G-8, and Asia Pacific Economic Summit. His ability to motivate others and lead high performing teams was always evident on over 300 White House missions and 1000 days of temporary duty.

He earned several distinguished honors through military competition boards such as Soldier of the Month, Soldier of the Quarter, and Soldier of the Region. He was also commended for his selection as a finalist in a Soldier of the Year Competition. During two separate years, he was selected as the Unit Noncommissioned Officer of the Year and he is part of Agency history as a member of the 1993 White House Communications All-Star Team. Additionally, he is a recipient of the White House Communications Agency, Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year Award. Some of his military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Joint Service Achievement Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal, Air Assault, and the Presidential Service Badge. He also received the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, American Legion, and Lacey B. Ivory Community Service Award for his dedicated work with youth. Following the tragedies of September 11, 2001, he was selected as 1 of only 5 individuals, out of 30 senior leaders, to provide emergency communications for the Vice President of the United States to include duties as a Command Representative aboard Air Force Two.
