About MARY'S OBITUARY
Mary Elizabeth (Chambers) Tillery was called home to be with the Lord on April 29, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 12, 1945 in Salisbury, NC to the late Demont Chambers and Lorena (Arnold) Ware-Chambers.

Mary attended Springfield Schools and was a graduate of the High of Commerce. She went on to complete her Degree in Cosmetology at the Apex College of Beauty Culture in New York. She was a loyal member of the EPSILON XI ALPHA Chapter of Alpha Chi Pi Omega Sorority and Fraternity.

She met and married the love of her life, Zettie M Tillery, on April 24, 1965. Soon after she began her Cosmetology career at Alice’s Beauty Salon, Ms Gee’s, Essie’s Cosmetology Salon and Solid Gold Beauty Palace where she retired in 2013.

Mary loved attending educational seminars and Cosmetology classes all over the country to further her knowledge, especially the Bronner Brothers convention in Atlanta GA. She received the “Distinguished Achievement in Cosmetology” Award from the Stone Soul Committee in 2005 among many others.

Anyone who knew Mary knows she LOVED Bingo and had her own style when it came to her hair and wardrobe. She could also be easily recognized by her signature “AHAH” in excitement.

Mary was a faithful and committed member of New Life Calvary Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, Missionary, and Co-Chair of the Women’s Ministry. She loved Sunday School, Bible Study and always supported Vacation Bible School.

Mary was predeceased by her sisters Lois Crowe, Ruby Ware, Carrie Ware, Estella Oakley and Fannie Ware; and her brothers James Ware, Sylvester Ware and Marvin Johnny Chambers.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 56 years, Zettie, two children; Regina Tillery-Jenkins (Scott) and Tremaine Ferguson, eight grandchildren; Marques, Brenton, Vernon “LV”, Donovan, Tre’Marie, Hayston, Dominic and Alivia; one great-granddaughter, Alina Jenkins; one brother; Frank Ware, Sr and three sister-in-laws Essie Ware, Christina Chambers and Toni Tillery as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, dedicated clients and loving friends.
