About	Michael S. McGinnis, age 57, of 12 Taylor Street, Holyoke, MA, passed away suddenly on Jan 15, 2020. He was born in Chicago on March 29, 1962 to the late Mervyn McGinnis and Rosalind (Jackson) Henderson. Upon graduating from Commerce High School in Springfield, Michael enlisted in the Army and was later, honorably discharged. Michael worked for many years at Mount Holyoke College as a cook. Michael had a lifelong passion for sports and as a young man played on a number of softball teams. He would often impress family members with his encyclopedic knowledge of player statistics. Later in life, Michael would come to enjoy trips to Foxboro Stadium and TD Garden. Michael enjoyed music and knew many of the jazz and hip-hop artists. He looked forward to family dinners and gatherings, and his presence will be greatly missed. He was known by his family and coworkers for his quick wit, engaging smile and kind heart. His coworkers knew him to be a hard-working and reliable colleague. He leaves a sole brother, Mark McGinnis of South Windsor, CT, and his wife Christina McGinnis of Vernon, CT; his uncle Frederick Jackson, and close aunt, Rosemary Jackson, both of Springfield and a cherished nephew, Cameron McGinnis of Ellington, CT., and a host of family, friends and coworkers. Visiting Hours will be held on Thurs, Jan 23, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Sampson Chapel of the Acres 21 Tinkham Rd. Springfield with a Remembrance to start at 11:45 a.m. Burial is private for the family.
