Scholarship Deadline Ap 1st!!
A scholarship has been created in honor of our father, Harry William Case who was found to be one of Columbiana High School’s exemplary athlete/students. Deadline: Ap 1, 2009. Harry was inducted into the Columbiana Athletic Hall of Fame Feb 17, 01 for athletic success in Basketball, Football and Track. In Jan 1945, Harry set a basketball record of 33 points scored within the first 2 quarters of the game that stood for 25 years. The coach told stories of how he’d probably have scored many more, but he took Harry out to allow others to have a chance to play; an excellent coach with sportsmanship ethics. He went on to tell how he chosen Harry to lead because of his natural-born leadership qualities. Later at CHS, Harry was awarded the “All Ohio Honorâ€. Aside from Basketball, Football, and Track, Harry experienced great success in Baseball, Tennis, Golfing and Spring-board Diving. Harry went on to Akron U. with continued success, then later married Julianne Spring and fathered 5 children as an honorable father and husband to Julianne for 58 years. A man of great integrity, he was always a stickler for honesty, integrity, being ‘on time’ and compassion toward others. Because of his successes, it is our wish (and our Father’s wish) to reward a student for exhibiting many of the qualities he also worked extremely hard to exhibit. 4.9 Mill Bond Issue
The Need is Real. The Time is Now.
Please support the Columbiana Schools 4.9 mill bond issue on Nov. 4th. The bond issue will be used to build a new K-8 Facility located on the high school campus. Our current facilities can no longer meet our needs because of the growth that has occurred in our district. The physical condition of the buildings are fairly good yet they do not meet the needs of today's educational requirements.
The district has had an excellent rating on the local report card 5 times. Please help maintain that level of excellence by voting for the levy.
