Linda Ballew Doornbos, Class of 1971

Linda Kay Ballew Doornbos, 59, of Bloomington, IL, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013, surrounded by family.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the funeral home, with burial at East Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Grandview Baptist Church, Centralia, MO, at 6:30 p.m. Friday June 7, with reception following.

Linda was born Dec. 10, 1953, in Columbia, MO, to Elgin Eugene (Gene) and Kathryn Fay Poore Ballew. She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her mother, Kathryn Houston; sister, Dorothy (Mike) Wilson; and brothers, Randy (Jacque) Ballew and Roger (Sonia) Ballew. Linda married Keith Doornbos on Aug. 28, 1980. She is survived by husband Keith, and children, Brian Foster, Chicago, IL, Laura (David) Ludwig, Colfax, IL, and four grandchildren, Mackenzie Foster, and Eva, Carter, and Landon Ludwig.

Linda graduated from Hickman High in 1971, and Columbia College in 1981, with a B.S. in both.business administration and criminal justice. She worked 44 years for State Farm Insurance Cos., the last 17 as an agent in Decatur, IL. Linda was a Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant, a member of the National Association of Insurance Agents and Financial Advisors, and the Early Birds Kiwanis Club of Decatur, IL.

Linda was a pilot, flying thousands of hours in light aircraft. She was a member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and the Experimental Aircraft Association, and served as president of the Bloomington/Normal Chapter 129 for more than three years.
