Wayne passed away at the age of 45 after surviving 25 years with Addison’s Disease.
Born in Houston, he grew up in Martinez and graduated from College Park High School in 1981. He was Student Body President and left as the school’s all-time leading scorer in basketball. He also lettered in tennis and baseball.
Wayne went on to college at UC Davis, where he graduated with an electrical engineering degree. He enjoyed teaching and coaching sports at several area high schools. An avid A’s fan, his hobbies included many sports, and he was a familiar face on numerous area adult softball, tennis and basketball teams throughout the years.
He is survived by his parents, Tony and Dorothy Watkin of Rossmoor; sister Julie (Robert) Morbidelli of Alameda, their children Rachel, Olivia, Catrina and Dominic; brother Steve (Julie) Watkin of San Ramon, and their children Elizabeth, Brian and Katie.
