David Schnakenberg
Class of 1959
Army, 20+ Years
I retired as a Colonel, Medical Service Corps, after completing 30 years in the Army. I received my BS and MS degrees in animal nutrition at the U. Missouri. I received my PhD in nutrition and physiology from Univ. CA, Davis in 1973. I spent most of my career working to improve the nutritional quality of the rations fed to our troops in all environments. I served as nutrition advisor to the U.S. Army Surgeon General for many years I served as Commanding Officer of the U.S. Army Research Institute for Environmental Medicine in Natick, MA from 1988-1990. After I retired from the Army in 1993, I served as Executive Officer for the American Society for Clinical Nutrition from 1993 until 2000.

Marine Corps, 10 Years
Meritoriously promoted after completing basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego CA (1985). Initially trained as a computer programmer at Marine Corps Base Quantico VA (1986). Retrained as an air traffic contoller at Naval Air Station Memphis TN (1992) and was honor graduate for ACA1 class. Completed ATC training at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton CA (1993).
