About Event

It is with great pleasure that we present the Cody High School Class of 1969 50 Year Reunion.
Friday night, Aug. 2
Reception
Monaghan’s Knight of Columbus Hall, 19801 Farmington Rd., Livonia, 48152; north of 7 mile, on the west side of Farmington Rd. 7pm to midnight
Light hors d’oeuvres– Coconut shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, sesame chicken, beef mini kabobs and veggies with dip; Cody Comet cake, coffee, & tea. Cash bar for other beverages.
60’s music brought to you by our Greg Spiewak! Mementoes & a fabulous door prize
Also, we’ll have a video projection of old photos at the reception. We want some of your favorites from our high school era with annotation as to who is in the picture, where it was taken, and when if known. It will certainly stir up the memories and some great stories.
Either make a paper copy and send them to our home address below, or scan your paper photo and send the .jpg file via e-mail to Louie Carpinelli at lou0314@comcast.net by July 1.
Come as you are, and be ready to party like 1969!
PS - Please indicate exactly how you would like your name and the name of your guest displayed on your nametags. Your name should be the one we knew you as in high school. For the women, it’s up to you to have your married name included.
Saturday Aug. 3
Co-ed golf scramble
Idylwild Golf Course, 35786 Five Mile Rd, just east of Levan, adjacent to the One Under Bar and Grill. Tee times from 1pm through 2:30pm.
$25 greens fee, includes a golf cart for two, to be paid for just prior to tee times. Prize for the best team score and the worst team score (the one exemplifying pure honesty and the most laughs). Please let us know if you want to join the fun by July 1.
Plan on dinner and drinks afterwards right there at the One Under Bar and Grill. We’d even like to have the other classmates, the non-golfers, join us for dinner about 6:30 pm.
Frank Lloyd Wright Home Tour
Formerly owned by our own English teacher, Mr. M.M. Smith, now open to the public, in Franklin Hills.
Walt Schnabel is working out the details and we’ll announce those as soon as we can as to the time, the tour, & the price.
Sunday, Aug. 4
The 50’s and 60’s Cody Picnic in Edward Hines Park, Nankin Mills Shelter, 11 a.m. to 6p.m.
All graduating classes of the 1950’s and 1960’s. Live music by 3 bands, custom cars, prizes and lots of group photos. All FREE!
Hot dogs, chip, pop and water for sale. Cody shirts, hats, & tassels for sale. Free prizes and raffles for military veterans.
Bring your own lounge chairs, coolers, food, beverages, sunblock, hot rods, etc. Older neighbors, siblings and relatives may well be part of other Cody alumni class groups nearby. Check the sign-in sheets to search for them by name.
Hotel Rooms
A block of rooms are reserved for us at the Detroit Marriot Livonia, 17100 Laurel Park Drive N, between Newburgh and I-275, on the north side of 6 Mile Rd. located on the west side of the mall. Group rates have been applied.
Use this link below to get your room booked before July 12th. Expect an alumni gathering for breakfast in their restaurant every morning we’re there.
Book your group rate for Cody 50th Class Reunion Room Block
Memory Book
If you would like to post your biography and picture in the memory book, email (highly preferred) it to Pam Carpinelli at pam1123@comcast.net , or mail it to our home address shown below. Suzy Duchenne and Pam need time to create the book so send your bios and pictures in RIGHT AWAY. The sooner the better please.
You can use Microsoft Word or we’ll use your text within your email. Limit your bio to 200 words so we don’t have to edit it too much. Consider including some contact info for the reader such as your home address or just city of residence, email address, phone #, etc. Submit a somewhat recent .jpg or photocopied picture of yourself, preferably a current “headshot” picture of yourself. Otherwise we’ll crop and size your photo.
Your content must be received by July 1 to be included in the book. Books will be distributed at the Friday night reception as well as at the golf event on Saturday and the picnic in Edward Hines on Sunday. The cost of each book with a Cody coffee mug picked up at these events is $10. To have a memory book mailed to you, send a $10 check to Louie Carpinelli at our home address in Seattle and make sure we have your mailing address. These memory books will be mailed out to you by August 15.
There is still space available for posting an ad; and donations are gladly accepted to help defray the costs. If interested, email Louie Carpinelli at lou0314@comcast.net
Digital Albums
Photos from all the events of the weekend will be found on the Facebook site 1969 Cody High School Alumni and at a dedicated Snapfish website to be identified after the reunion weekend. Send your digital photos right after the reunion weekend to Louie Carpinelli via email at lou0314@comcast.net (to be posted as a concise album for easy viewing). It would really help the viewers if you identify who is in the picture.

To institute transparency and integrity, we have opened up a separate bank account and have a 3rd party ready, willing and able to audit all of our transactions.
Please continue to spread the word to our fellow alumni as it’s rather challenging to find classmates 50 years later. Also, we have opened these events to our long-time friends who we used to hang with but didn’t actually graduate with us.

Thanks to all of those helping to make this a great event, including you, the alumni, as your presence is what it’s really all about.
Pam (Travis) and Louie Carpinelli Nan (Hancock) and Walt Schnabel

Anyone know if tickets may be purchased at the door ?

If you're unable to attend the weekend events, your bio and pic would certainly be appreciated by the alumni. Do consider putting those together and sending them in. Perhaps you'd like a memory book yourself. Just let us know

We now also have these grads who have paid for the Aug 2 reception, with no previous announcement of attending – Art Biggins, Vicki Rohraff, Robert Erlenbusch, Jim Orlowski, Gayle Polk, Tom Pond, Sandra Hankins and Don Gadd, and Jim Windel.
We’re quickly approaching the end of the payment period and while we’ve heard from a couple dozen or so by surprise, there’s still that many that I haven’t heard from yet expressed a desire to attend the Friday night reception via Facebook, classmates.com or Alumniclass.com.
Keep in mind the golfing event and the picnic might be a tad wet from all I’ve heard about the “Seattle” weather in Michigan this summer but we’ll be good and dry inside on Friday!
Please get your bios, current picture, old photos and payment submitted by July 1. The hotel rooms reserved for us will continue to offer the group rate but only until July 12th. For all the details on this and the weekend events,

Reunion Apparel

The class of 1969 experienced history on a regular basis: The Summer of Love, the Tet Offensive, Nixon's rise to power, The Beatles' creative peak... very few spans of time can claim to have shaped American culture as much as the late 60's, and you & your Cody High School classmates experienced it together.

Now as you and your fellow Comets prepare to enjoy retirement it's the perfect time to reunite and share where life has brought you in the last five decades. Your reunion is scheduled and AlumniClass is your spot for arranging travel plans, ordering custom Comets merchandise to show off your school spirit, and connect with classmates ahead of time.
